How to get into a locked briefcase?
My best friend really needs to get into her boyfriend's locked briefcase. I know it's dishonest but it's important to her so it's important to me. Does anyone know how to pick the lock and get into the briefcase without breaking it??
Okay janie….I get what you're saying but chill out a bit. I guess it's easy to say you believe in taking the moral highground but you don't know the situation so you really have no reason to judge it so harshly. If he's keeping things that belong to her in this briefcase then I think she has every right to open it and see. Have you ever thought that she's in an abusive relationship and needs certain credit cards that he may be keeping from her to be able to leave and get a place to stay??? No, I doubt you have thought about that.
So before you judge a situation so quickly try to keep in mind that things aren't always so black and white.
BTW…she opened the lock and has what she needs. Thanks to everyone that gave helpful advice.

hmm, I have to wonder why it's important. It kind of depends on how good a case it is, and whether it is a combination lock or key lock. Key locks are easier, a bobby pin bent a bit will open most of the lower end locks. A butter knife will pry open the cheap combination locks. If she has access to the briefcase for a period of time, and it's a better one that's not easily opened, simply take it to a locksmith. for the higher end ones, you need lock picking skills and tools.
Plasma torch, hack saw, 357 magnum, diamond blade, settling torch, a 3/4" drill with bits made for drilling through steel and tin snips, bolt cutters, etc..
Use your immagination because thats all I am saying. I do not advocate stealing I was just answering your question.
It depends on how much you weigh and how tall you are. I'm not sure how big his brief case is, but I don't think you could get in to it without breaking it.
Dishonesty sometimes gives you what your asking for, an illegal why of accusing someone else. How will you explain how you got your information to the beau?…IF IT'S IN THE CASE?…The freedom we fight for in this country says we have the right to privacy, and to a locked, secure life and briefcase. He has the right to arrest both of you for breaking in and entering into his LOCKED briefcase the same as if you broke down his front door. He could claim robbery, theft, say you stole important document or items from this said case. Depending on the price, you could get a charge of misdemeanor or worse if he claims large collector item or jewels are stolen. With proof of insurance he could get you a class Felony and a ticket to ride the jail bird!…Breaking in and entrance is not just for front doors or windows…it covers suitcases, car doors, glove boxes, and believe it or not, trash containers not on the curbside yet that are locked in boxes, or jewelry boxes. So if I was you, remember a lock means: private items, stay out of my life and freedom to have it……..I would consider all the out right possibliities and decide if what is inside is truely worth it knowing about. The answer in the end, may not be what your looking for!! Be the one that tells your freind, that breaking in and illegal entrance is not a traight you wish your best freind to hold! After all…will she and other dear freind find your briefcase next…She can claim; "you know you helped me break into one,so what you gonna do about it freind?"….getting involved, she now has a hold on you, can you trust her with your things next?? After all, if its important to her, it is important to you attitude right…so don't be mad if she breaks into your stuff next!
