How do you clean a leather briefcase without using commercial leather-cleaner?

Ok you need a bar of bath soap and a bowl of warm water
wet your rag ,ring out well then rube bar of soap on rag!
then rub in circle then get a clean damp towel to wipe off
soap residue!
